With the Autumn Equinox behind us, UK drivers are facing darker commutes and have been urged to try a simple cleaning hack to stay safe on the roads. Road conditions often become more dangerous as summer ends, and a dirty windscreen can add to the issues.
Vinegar solution reduces glare
Cold driving expert Alexander Haraldsson of Lotus Car Rental recommends cleaning your windscreen with vinegar to reduce glare. He said: “Because the autumn sun sits much lower in the sky, drivers often experience glare during peak morning and evening commuting hours.”
“To lessen this glare, clean your windscreen thoroughly both inside and out, as any waxy build-up or film will intensify it.”
Cost-effective cleaning method
Haraldsson urged drivers that cleaning a windscreen does not require huge costs. Making a diluted vinegar solution with a microfibre cloth will create the same results as some higher-end car cleaning products, potentially saving drivers a significant amount, with the solution costing as little as 95p.
The expert added: “Additionally, replace any smearing wiper blades, keep a pair of sunglasses in your glovebox, and lower your sun visor early.”
