Donald Trump has sparked fresh health speculation after appearing frail while arriving in Turkey for a NATO summit, with social media commentators noting his unsteady gait and reliance on Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan for support. The US president was pictured walking alongside Erdogan after touching down in the West Asian country, leading one observer to narrate: 'Erdogan clutches a wandering Trump's arm to guide him around.' Another critic went further, labeling Trump a 'megalomaniac corpse walking around.'
Growing Scrutiny of Trump's Health
The incident comes amid increasing scrutiny of Trump's physical and cognitive health, following reported instances of memory loss, public tiredness, and visible bruising and swelling. A bombshell book by former White House correspondents Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, titled Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, alleged that Trump has difficulty hearing and has lost 'whatever thin verbal filter he had in the past.'
Trump's 80th birthday in June further intensified discourse about his ability to handle the demands of the presidency. Rahm Emanuel, a prominent Democrat and former chief of staff to Barack Obama, told the New York Times: 'Somebody at 80-years-old just doesn't have the physical stamina, the mental stamina for that office.'
Trump's Remarks at the Summit
During the Turkish summit, Trump confirmed that the US interim agreement with Iran over the Middle Eastern conflict was 'over.' He stated: 'I don't want to deal with them anymore, they're scum. You know what scum is? They're scum.' He added: 'They're sick people. They're led by sick people. And they're vicious, violent people. If they had a nuclear weapon, they'd use it. As far as I'm concerned, it's over.'
