Model and social media star Nara Smith has announced that her two-year-old daughter, Whimsy, is in remission after a year-long battle with cancer. The 24-year-old "trad-wife" influencer, known for narrating her daily life in a low voice while preparing meals from scratch in extravagant attire, shared the news in an emotional Instagram video.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Whimsy was diagnosed with cancer last year and has since undergone chemotherapy. Smith revealed that she and her husband, model Lucky Blue Smith, 28, waited until after treatment concluded to share the news publicly. "We wanted to wait until she was done with treatment and us knowing what the outcome of her situation would be before sharing it, and even finding the words to share it," Smith said in the video.
Financial and Emotional Toll
Smith emphasized the immense burden that cancer treatment places on families, both financially and emotionally. "Going through chemo treatments opened my eyes to how expensive medical care is, and what a toll it takes on families specifically," she stated. The couple is now focusing on returning to everyday life, though Smith acknowledged the lasting impact: "I don’t know whether life will ever feel normal again, but we’re trying to navigate this next chapter the best that we can."
Gratitude and Future Plans
Smith expressed gratitude for the "kind messages, prayers, and support" received, and extended solidarity to families still fighting cancer. The couple, who have four children including their youngest, Fawnie Golden, born in October last year, are exploring charities and foundations to support. Smith concluded, "The whole point of me sharing our experience was to shed light on what so many families go through and battle privately."
