Myleene Klass has revealed she had a cancer scare after finding lumps in her breast while attending the Wimbledon tennis tournament. The former Hear'Say singer, 48, shared the news on social media, urging other women to check themselves.
Discovery and Diagnosis
Klass posted a photo of her left breast marked with two Xs, explaining that she felt a lump when she casually folded her arms at Wimbledon. She then found a second one. Subsequent tests revealed three cysts and three lymph nodes, but she was given the all-clear.
Describing the waiting period, she wrote: "The subsequent days went both quickly and agonisingly slowly... the days of waiting meant I reorganised my life into a new set of priorities and 'what ifs' only to thankfully get the all clear and then experience the weird 'reordering' of going back to 'normal'."
Concern for Her Children
The radio presenter admitted her main worry was for her children Ava, 15, Hero, 15, and Apollo, seven, if she became ill. She found the experience of having her first ultrasound since her four miscarriages "sobering".
She wrote: "I have close friends going through similar experiences (at the moment) and it's sobering, humbling and terrifying. It's the having kids that anyone who experiences anything near this will know to be the first and final concern."
Support from Fellow Celebrities
Klass thanked her manager Severine Berman for helping her get seen "lightning fast" and concluded: "To those who don't have a Sev, look at this as your prompt from me. Check yourselves."
Lauren Laverne, who has previously had cancer, commented "Love you xxx," while Julia Bradbury, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021, wrote: "I know all too well how terrifying this time is. Well done for sharing and using as an opportunity to spread the message. Get checked. Check yourself..and take the best possible care of your health you can. Happy pure OK M."
Jools Oliver sent "big hugs," Kirsty Gallacher shared love, and Zoe Ball called it a "Great nudge to all."
