John Torode has provided a positive update on his wife Lisa Faulkner's recovery from breast cancer during an appearance on ITV's This Morning. The celebrity chef, who has been a regular on the show since 1996, appeared on Monday July 13 to discuss his cooking segment, but hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard first asked about Lisa's health.
Torode Shares Uplifting News on This Morning
Torode responded: "She's doing really well, actually, really well, and thanks so much for asking. She thanks everybody for all their wonderful comments and their best wishes, but she's doing very well, thank you very much."
Lisa Faulkner, 54, is an actress, television presenter, and home cook known for roles in Holby City, Spooks, and Waterloo Road. She later became a television chef alongside Torode, whom she married in 2019. Earlier this month, she announced that she had undergone surgery for breast cancer and was recovering.
Faulkner's Candid Cancer Announcement
The Celebrity MasterChef winner shared the news on Instagram, revealing that the operation had been successful. She told fans: "It's all good, they've got everything out, so it's all clear, and I just need some radiotherapy in a few weeks."
Faulkner had previously disclosed her diagnosis earlier this year, emphasizing that the cancer was caught at an early stage. She credited her mammogram for the early detection, stating: "I'm so grateful that I went for my mammogram. Don't put them off, go, because they found this - without this mammogram, it wouldn't have been picked up."
Gratitude for NHS and Support from Fans
She expressed gratitude to the NHS, saying: "I want to say thank you to our wonderful NHS, and the fact that we can have these mammograms, and we can get treatment early." Faulkner also acknowledged that she still had some recovery ahead but reassured followers that she was feeling healthier and continuing to improve.
Following her announcement, supporters and celebrity friends sent messages of support. Former This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby commented: "Sending you so much love."
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
