Jeremy Clarkson shares health update after cancer diagnosis

Jeremy Clarkson has shared a new video on social media this evening to thank followers for their support and well wishes after he disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis earlier this week. The former Top Gear presenter said he is doing well, as he urged others to get checked for cancer regardless of whether they have symptoms.

Clarkson's Diagnosis and Treatment

The 66-year-old revealed the news in the latest episodes of the fifth season of his series Clarkson's Farm. He described the disease as 'aggressive' but noted it had been discovered early. The TV presenter said he expected to be 'fine' but would be out of action 'for a while,' before revealing in the final episode that he had undergone an operation to remove part of his prostate.

In his latest message shared today, Saturday June 20, Jeremy told followers: 'If you go to a doctor and they say they won't test you because you aren't displaying any symptoms, then just lie. Look, thousands of people die every year in the UK from prostate cancer. Don't be one of them, get tested.' He added: 'The doctors caught the prostate cancer early and they caught it early because I got tested. I know a lot of you will say 'I don't want to be tested' but it is just a blood test these days.'

Complications and Future of the Show

Speaking from a hospital bed at the end of the season finale, Jeremy revealed he had experienced complications during treatment. He said: 'We started season five with me in a hospital bed and here we are at the end of season five and I'm back in a hospital bed.' The 66-year-old reflected on the future of the show as he said he hopes to return to Clarkson's Farm for series six.

Supportive messages continue to be sent to the TV presenter after it emerged that he had undergone surgery to remove 10% of his prostate last summer. One fan commented on his Instagram post: 'Well done Jeremy for speaking out and sharing your cancer journey, you have inspired others to get tested and that can only be a great thing.' Another fan added: 'THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO! This is so important, you're an incredible advocate and even better so because of your lived experiences. This is going to make a world of difference with such positive impact, in the UK and globally.'

Prostate Cancer UK's Response

Prostate Cancer UK turned to social media to express its gratitude to the television personality for bringing much-needed attention to the condition, urging men not to underestimate the importance of catching it early. The post said: 'We want to thank Jeremy Clarkson for sharing his prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment in Clarkson's Farm, raising awareness with the millions of men and families watching.'
