Hospital Worker Prosecuted Over Kate Middleton's Medical Records

A hospital worker at the London Clinic will be prosecuted for accessing Kate Middleton’s medical records following her surgery in 2024. The Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery at the private clinic in early 2024. Now, a staff member is facing criminal charges over allegations that she accessed the records along with three other employees.

Details of the Breach

The Marylebone clinic, located on the corner of Devonshire Place in one of London’s most exclusive neighborhoods, has a long history of treating the royal family and A-list celebrities. The three employees were dismissed after an internal investigation, as reported by The Mirror. Following a two-year criminal investigation, charges are now being brought forward.

The penalty for accessing medical records without cause or consent does not involve prison time but can result in an unlimited fine. The alleged offense occurred approximately three weeks after Kate’s abdominal surgery. The Prince and Princess of Wales were informed of the apparent breach and have been kept updated on the matter.

We have systems in place to monitor management of patient information and, in the case of any breach, all appropriate investigatory, regulatory and disciplinary steps will be taken. There is no place at our hospital for those who intentionally breach the trust of any of our patients or colleagues.”
