Festival Cancelled After Teen Dies of Medical Emergency

An 18-year-old woman has died after suffering a medical emergency at Tonnau Festival, held at Carreglwyd Estate in North Wales. Emergency services were called at 1:45am on Saturday, July 11, 2026, and the woman was taken to hospital but later died. Organisers subsequently cancelled the remainder of the festival, which was scheduled from July 10-12.

Festival Statement

In a statement, festival organisers said: 'Everyone at Tonnau Festival is deeply saddened to confirm that a festival attendee tragically passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning following a severe medical emergency. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the attendee’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.'

The organisers noted that on-site welfare teams, security, and emergency medical staff responded immediately from the moment the attendee became unwell. Paramedics and welfare personnel did everything they could to provide emergency care, but the attendee later died in hospital.

Safety and Investigation

Insisting that the safety and well-being of their audience is always the highest priority, organisers said they are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. 'Following this tragedy, and to allow emergency services and local authorities to conduct their necessary work, we made the decision to close the remainder of the festival and have asked people to vacate the site when it is safe for them to do so,' the statement continued. They added: 'We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all our attendees, staff and volunteers during this incredibly difficult situation. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will be making no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and hearts are with the family.'

Police Confirmation

Police confirmed the woman's death at the festival in Llanfaethlu, Anglesey. A spokesperson said: 'We can confirm that a woman has sadly died at a festival in Llanfaethlu, Anglesey. Emergency services attended Tonnau Festival at Carreglwyd Estate at around 1:45am this morning, 11 July, following reports of a medical emergency. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, sadly, the 18-year-old woman later died in hospital.' Her death is being treated as unexpected, and the coroner has been informed.

Detective Inspector Iolo Edwards said: 'Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.
