A 15-year-old boy was rescued from mud and quicksand at Morecambe on Saturday, prompting a multi-agency response. The teenager became trapped, and a family member raised the alarm, leading to a coordinated rescue operation.
The rescue was managed by Holyhead Coastguard, with teams from Knott End, Arnside, and Morecambe Coastguard Rescue Teams, alongside the RNLI Morecambe and a Coastguard helicopter from Caernarfon. Specialist mud rescue equipment was used to free the boy.
A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesman confirmed that the tide was receding during the operation, which aided the rescue. No injuries were reported, and the boy was safely recovered.
