Eamonn Holmes Stroke Update: GB News Return Confirmed

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes, 66, has shared a health update from his hospital bed following a stroke in April, as sources confirm he will return to the channel once he recovers.

Holmes Expresses Gratitude to Fans

Holmes acknowledged the TRIC award won by GB News for Best News Programme, saying: "I'd just like to say a huge thank you to all the viewers who took the time and trouble to vote." He added: "To win for the fourth time in a row is unbelievable, and I'm so proud to be a part of Britain's number one news channel."

He continued: "I'd dearly wished I could have been there to celebrate with the team, but for now my focus has to be on making a full recovery and getting back to my best." Holmes also thanked well-wishers, noting their messages "mean the world to me."

GB News Confirms Holmes Will Return

A source told The Sun: "Eamonn is one of the channel’s most popular presenters. I can categorically say he will be coming back, and any suggestion otherwise is wrong." The insider added: "For now, Eamonn is being given the time to heal. He’s been through a lot and needs this time to recover. Once he’s back on his feet, he’ll be welcomed back with open arms."

Holmes, who co-hosts the breakfast show with Ellie Costello, has not appeared since March. He was due to return in April before suffering the stroke.

Details of the Stroke and Recovery

Holmes was rushed to hospital after being found "slumped and out cold" at home, according to reports. GB News stated at the time: "He is currently responding well to treatment. Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better." The channel wished him a speedy recovery and looked forward to his return.

His son Declan, from Holmes's marriage to ex-wife Gabrielle, called the stroke a "real shock." On Instagram, he wrote: "What happened came as a real shock, but Dad is doing okay given the circumstances and we're taking it one step at a time."

Holmes's Health Struggles

Holmes is receiving round-the-clock care from his girlfriend Katie Alexander, 44. He previously underwent a double hip replacement in 2016, and five years later suffered three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis. He later had spinal surgery and now often uses a walker or wheelchair due to ongoing mobility issues.

In April, Holmes posted a photo of his two granddaughters with a handmade "Get well soom" card, captioning it: "As my beautiful Granddaughters put it so well - I will do my best to get well SOOM. Thank you for all of your many many good wishes, they give me strength."
