Consultant Gynaecologist Dr Anne Henderson has advised women to stop using harsh soaps on their intimate areas, recommending instead a £22 Boots cleanser to relieve dryness. The advice comes as research shows 83% of women experience intimate dryness at some point in their lives, often worsened by hormonal changes like menopause.
Expert Advice on Intimate Care
Dr Henderson emphasized that washing with stripping agents can exacerbate dryness. "It's worth thinking about the whole routine, not just one step," she said. "Moisturising intimate skin regularly can make a meaningful difference, in much the same way moisturising your face does. It's such a simple thing, but it's something women just aren't told to do."
Consultant Gynaecologist Dr Pavan Minhas added: "Women can go through intimate dryness at various stages in their lives. Because there's so much taboo around these topics, it's inhibiting women from seeking help, and it has a massive impact on both physical health and psychological well-being."
NAYDAYA Victory Cleanse Wash
The recommended product is NAYDAYA's Victory Cleanse Wash, priced at £22.40 (down from £28 with code COMFORT20). It is a natural, fragrance-free, hormone-free wash that is dermatologically tested, pH-safe, and formulated without foaming agents. Ingredients include castor seed oil, grapeseed oil, and vitamin E. The cleanser won Best Bath and Shower Product at the 2025 Get The Gloss Beauty Awards.
Judge and Consultant Gynaecologist Dr Tania Adib called it "a standout winner" for vulva care. NAYDAYA also offers Victory Oil, an intimate moisturiser with mango butter and vitamin E, which has sold over 100,000 bottles at Boots and sold out five times.
Other Options and Consumer Feedback
Alternative products include Luna Daily's Everywhere Wash Fragrance Free (£19) and Dr Barbara Sturm's V Wash (£55). However, NAYDAYA's cleanser has received positive reviews. One user said: "I am absolutely loving this collection and the moisture benefits I get are like nothing else I have tried. Simply the best." Another noted relief after cancer treatments: "A chemically-induced menopause... had totally dehydrated my lady garden. I finally got round to ordering the Victory Comfort Set... instant relief."
A three-star review noted the small bottle size, but another fan stated: "The cleanser has been a game changer for me. The cost is a consideration, but I haven't found anything else on the market that I like as much."
