Carol Vorderman Hospitalised After Concussion from Fall

Carol Vorderman, the former Countdown star, was taken to hospital after falling unconscious on a public footpath near her home. The 65-year-old presenter shared details of the incident on Instagram, where she has 710,000 followers.

Accident Details

In a video posted to social media, Vorderman explained that at the end of May, she tripped over a tree root while walking on a public footpath outside her house. She hit her head on the tarmac and lost consciousness. An ambulance took her to the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI). She noted that the ambulance crew played 'The Final Countdown' during the journey, which she found amusing.

Injuries and Symptoms

Vorderman said that almost half of her face developed a black eye and bruising. After being discharged the next day, she experienced severe vomiting and dizziness, leading to a return to hospital for CT scans. She described feeling as though she was walking on a moving ship and knocking into walls.

Treatment and Recovery

Her physiotherapist recommended the Epley technique, a step-by-step physical treatment for vertigo. Vorderman described the session: 'She gave me the Epley Technique... OMG it felt like I was falling off the edge of the earth.' After one session, 95% of her dizziness disappeared. She had three sessions in total and was discharged. She expressed gratitude to her physiotherapist, Sophie.

Vorderman emphasised that she is not a medic but shared her story in case it helps others suffering from similar symptoms.
