Urgent Recall: Capsicana Salsa and Minton & Donello Orzo Pose Allergy Risk
Capsicana Salsa and Orzo Recalled Over Allergy Risk

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued urgent allergy alerts for two products sold in major UK supermarkets. Capsicana Easy Going Mild Salsa, available at Tesco and Sainsbury's, is being recalled because it contains barley (gluten) and mustard, which are not declared on the label. The recall affects the 285g pack with batch code 6091 and a best-before date of May 2027.

Health Risk for Allergy Sufferers

The FSA stated: "This product contains barley (gluten) and mustard, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard and/or allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, or with coeliac disease." Consumers who have purchased the salsa and have these allergies are advised not to eat it and to return it to the store for a full refund without needing a receipt.

Capsicana has issued point-of-sale notices and contacted allergy support organisations. For further information, customers can call 0800 0195 617 or email consumer.services@abworldfoods.com.

Second Recall: Minton & Donello Organic White Orzo

Dundeis UK Ltd is recalling Minton & Donello Organic White Orzo (500g pack) because it contains wheat (gluten) not mentioned on the label. The affected batch codes are 78850, with best-before dates of January 31, 2027, May 2, 2027, and May 24, 2027.

The FSA warned: "This product contains wheat, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or with coeliac disease." Consumers are urged to return the product to the store for a full refund.

About Allergy Alerts

The FSA explained that when a food product has incorrect or missing allergy labelling, it may be withdrawn from shelves or recalled. Allergy alerts are issued to inform consumers of the risk. Both recalls highlight the importance of accurate ingredient labelling to protect those with food allergies or intolerances.
