Weight Loss Journey and Unexpected Consequences

Grace Parkin, a 34-year-old estate manager from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, had weighed 19st 11lbs at her heaviest. She turned to Mounjaro, a weight loss injection costing £150 per month, after struggling with a shopping addiction that saw her spending up to £1,000 monthly on clothes, dining out, holidays, and alcohol out of 'sheer boredom.' The medication helped her shed 9st and saved her £7,200 per year by curbing her impulse buying.

However, the rapid weight loss left Grace with an 'apron tummy' of excess skin. Despite losing the weight, she found herself covering up more than before. 'I hated my shape, the way everything pulled down and under my clothes I looked 80 years old,' she said. Exercise and supplements could not correct the issue, prompting her to seek surgical intervention.

Decision to Undergo Surgery Abroad

Grace explored skin removal surgery options in the UK but was quoted £20,000 by 'average' clinics, which she found prohibitive. After ruling out Turkey due to 'horror' stories, she opted for a clinic in Lithuania. She paid an £800 deposit and the remaining balance upon arrival for the procedure in February 2026. The total cost, including the tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast uplift, was £10,500.

'I never felt nervous once. The staff were friendly and the clinic was immaculate,' Grace said. She experienced some achiness in her stomach area due to muscle repair but recovered well. After 10 days, she flew back to the UK. A minor issue with a small incision opening up proved insignificant.

Post-Surgery Results and Continued Use of Mounjaro

Grace, who now weighs 11st 10lbs, is 'overjoyed' with the results. She has resumed taking Mounjaro at £320 per month to maintain her weight and intends to stay on the injections indefinitely. 'It will take anywhere from six months to a year before the final results of the surgery become apparent,' she noted.

Reflecting on her transformation, Grace said: 'I feel weird when I look in the mirror, as I almost don't recognise myself. I'm so happy with the results. But I'm now looking at other parts, such as my arms, and if they need to be done, too.' She no longer avoids her reflection and catches herself looking in the mirror multiple times a day.

Newfound Confidence and Future Plans

Grace is eagerly anticipating summer and confidently showing off her figure in a bikini. 'I've got a couple of holidays planned this year. And a few bikinis at the ready. I used to be modest and go with a cover-up or I would avoid walking around the pool without a towel wrapped around me. My bum would sag and I'd feel so conscious about how I'd look. I can't wait to parade my new figure around,' she said.

She also noted a boost in her adventurous spirit: 'I got on the rides in Orlando for the first time as I didn't fear getting stuck in the seat or the weight limit. It was a blast.' Grace's journey highlights the physical and emotional challenges of significant weight loss and the lengths some go to achieve their desired body image.
