Deal Collapse Leaves Network in Receivership
Retail giant Wesfarmers placed 54 Infinity Pharmacy Group stores into receivership in December, following the revelation that the group's creditors were owed a staggering sum exceeding $400 million. The move came after Wesfarmers was on the verge of injecting fresh equity into the struggling franchisee, only to abruptly withdraw from the deal.
Wesfarmers Cites "Untenable" Financial Situation
In a recent email to Priceline franchise partners, Wesfarmers Health chief customer officer Richard Pearson outlined the reasons for the drastic action. Pearson stated that the company had worked extensively with Infinity Pharmacy Group over many years to help it navigate significant financial difficulties.
"Despite these efforts, Infinity's failure to meet their financial obligations over a prolonged period, as well as their worsening debt position, has placed them in an untenable situation, threatening their ability to continue trading," Pearson explained.
