The Ordinary has launched a new growth factor serum aimed at tackling multiple signs of ageing, at a fraction of the price of competitors. Priced at £13.50, the growth factor 15 per cent solution contains three plant-based growth factors (EGF, IGF, TGF) that signal the skin to repair and rejuvenate by stimulating cell turnover and collagen production.
Beauty editor Sabine Wiesel tested the serum daily for three weeks, applying a few drops to her face and neck both morning and evening. She noted that the water-based serum absorbs quickly but cautioned against using more than four or five drops to avoid overspending. The brand also advises against using it alongside exfoliating acids or vitamin C, as these can hinder effectiveness.
Wiesel reported that after three weeks, her dull, dry skin looked more radiant and felt smoother—impressive results in a short time, especially during winter. She described the formula as a great alternative to retinol, with no side effects to worry about.
The serum comes in The Ordinary's signature brown bottle with a pipette, and Wiesel found it fuss-free to use. She plans to continue using it daily and will report back on long-term effects.
