The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a 'do not eat' alert after Salmonella was found in certain chocolate products. World of Sweets is recalling Dubai Style Crunchy Knafeh and Pistachio Milk Chocolate and Alyan Dubai Style Chocolate Truffles because of possible contamination.
Which products are affected
The recall covers Alyan Dubai Style Chocolate Truffles with product code 319456 in 120g packs, and Alyan Dubai Style Crunchy Knafeh and Pistachio Milk Chocolate in 100g packs with product code 318591. All best-before dates are included in the recall.
Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling the affected products. Customers who have bought any of them are advised not to eat them and to return them to the store for a full refund.
Health advice on Salmonella
According to the FSA statement, symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should stay away from work, school or nursery until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours to avoid passing the infection on to others.
The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to inform consumers and local authorities about food problems. In some cases a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued, providing local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
