Shoppers are being urged to check their freezers as a popular frozen dessert has been urgently withdrawn from supermarket shelves over a potential health risk. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a recall notice for Gü Double Sea Salted Caramel Frozen Dessert after discovering it may contain undeclared hazelnuts and soya lecithin.
Product Details
The affected product comes in a pack of two 85g pots with a lot number of 126135 and a best-before date of June 30, 2027. The FSA stated that the presence of hazelnuts and soya, which are not listed on the label, poses a possible health risk for anyone with allergies to these ingredients.
Advice for Consumers
Gü is recalling the product and has contacted allergy support organisations to inform their members. The FSA advises: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts) and/or soya do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt required." For further information, consumers can email recall@gupuds.com.
About Allergy Alerts
The FSA explains that sometimes food products have to be withdrawn or recalled due to incorrect or missing allergy labelling. In such cases, an Allergy Alert is issued to protect consumers. This action ensures that anyone with allergies is aware of the risk and can take appropriate steps.
