Dr Sam’s, the dermatologist-created skincare brand, has launched the Flawless Brightly Pro Serum, a new formula aimed at tackling pigmentation. The £64 serum is designed to address dark spots caused by sun damage, post-acne marks, and hormonal changes, with clinical results showing a 62% reduction in brown spots after eight weeks and 85% after 12 weeks, according to the brand.
Dr Sam Bunting spent two years developing the serum, testing 23 versions before finalising the formula. Unlike many brightening products that target only one or two causes of pigmentation, this serum addresses all nine biological pathways involved in melanin production. It also targets ‘zombie cells’ (senescent cells) that can trigger recurring pigmentation even after spots appear to have faded.
Key ingredients include 10% azelaic acid, known for calming inflammation and reducing redness, alongside niacinamide, arbutin, kojic dipalmitate, and hexylresorcinol to regulate melanin. Milk thistle extract supports collagen production and targets sun-related pigmentation, while bakuchiol offers retinol-like benefits without sensitivity issues. The formula is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, pregnancy-safe, vegan, and cruelty-free, making it suitable for all skin tones, including deeper complexions.
Dr Sam Bunting said: “I knew I had to create a solution for the millions of people who suffer with pigmentation. A product that could be used to tackle all nine biological pathways and, at the same time, help avoid the rebound phenomenon.” The serum is designed for daily morning use and layers easily under moisturiser, SPF, and makeup.
