In an extraordinary display of courage and quick thinking that has captured hearts across America, a three-year-old Michigan boy became an unlikely hero when he saved his mother's life during a terrifying medical emergency.
A Mother's Medical Crisis
The dramatic incident unfolded in the family's Michigan home when Jessica Tapia, a 28-year-old mother living with Type 1 diabetes, experienced a severe hypoglycaemic episode that left her unconscious and unable to call for help.
"I remember feeling the low blood sugar coming on, but it hit me so fast I couldn't react," Ms Tapia recounted, her voice filled with emotion. "The next thing I knew, I was waking up in hospital surrounded by paramedics."
A Toddler's Remarkable Response
What happened between her collapse and awakening forms the heart of this incredible story. Her son, three-year-old Oliver, discovered his mother unconscious on the floor and immediately sprang into action.
Using knowledge he'd gained from watching his mother use her smartphone, the quick-thinking toddler managed to:

- Successfully call his grandmother for help
The Rescue Unfolds
"When I answered the phone, all I could hear was Oliver saying 'Mummy won't wake up,'" recalled grandmother Maria Tapia. "I immediately called 911 while staying on the line with him, trying to keep him calm."
