Devoted Parents Smash £100k Target for Son's 'Gift of Life' US Cancer Treatment
Parents raise £100k for son's US cancer treatment

The parents of a five-year-old boy have been overwhelmed by an outpouring of public generosity, successfully raising more than £100,000 to fund life-saving cancer treatment for their son in America.

Young Oscar Sibson was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called neuroblastoma in 2022. After gruelling treatment in the UK, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy, his family received the devastating news that the cancer had returned.

With options on the NHS exhausted, Oscar's only hope is a pioneering treatment course available at a specialist clinic in New York. The treatment, which is not offered in Britain, could be Oscar's last chance.

In a desperate race against time, his parents launched a fundraising campaign to cover the colossal medical bills. The family's target was a staggering £100,000. Thanks to the kindness of thousands of donors, that target has now been met.

His mother, Sherie Wood, expressed her profound gratitude, stating the funds have given her son a 'gift of life'. She described the moment as 'surreal' and thanked every single person who contributed to giving Oscar a fighting chance.

The money will now be used to cover the costs of the treatment itself, as well as associated travel and accommodation expenses for the family's trip to the United States.
