A nine-year-old girl is in a critical condition after being struck by a car while crossing a pedestrian crossing in Halifax.

The incident occurred on King Cross Street, near the junction with Park Road, at around 11:00 BST on Saturday, West Yorkshire Police said.

The girl was crossing the road with an adult when she was hit by a black Vauxhall Corsa. A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
