A six-year-old boy from Wyoming, USA, has been hailed a hero after he bravely intervened to save his younger sister from a dog attack. Bridger sustained 90 stitches to his face and head after putting himself between the animal and his sister.
The incident occurred on 9 July. Bridger's aunt, Nikki Walker, shared his story on Instagram, hoping to gain recognition for her nephew from his favourite superhero actors, including Tom Holland, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Pratt and Ryan Reynolds.
When asked why he acted as he did, Bridger reportedly said: 'If someone was going to die, I thought it should be me.' He was taken to hospital and treated by a plastic surgeon before being discharged home.
Ms Walker later updated that Bridger's wounds were healing well and that he was in good spirits. She also noted that the dog's owners had been kind and that there was no resentment between the families.
Bridger's family has requested that anyone wishing to help financially instead donate to charities Mission 22 or WWP. They have also set up a PO Box for people to send him pictures of rocks, as he is a fan of geology.
