A young boy has tragically died after being pulled unconscious from a swimming pool in a devastating incident on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.
Emergency Response at Bobs Farm
Emergency services were called to a property in Bobs Farm, Port Stephens, at approximately 7.30pm on Friday evening. The four-year-old boy was discovered in the swimming pool in a critical condition.
In a desperate attempt to save his life, family members immediately began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before the arrival of professional paramedics.
Rushed to Hospital
Upon their arrival, ambulance crews took over the advanced life support efforts. The child was then rushed to John Hunter Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Despite the best efforts of his family and the emergency and hospital medical teams, the young boy later died in hospital.
Police Inquiries and Coroner's Report
NSW Police have confirmed that officers have commenced inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident. As is standard procedure in such cases, a report will be prepared for the coroner.
This tragic event serves as a sombre reminder of the critical importance of constant, vigilant supervision around water and the necessity of robust pool safety measures, especially where young children are present.
