A British teenager has died after falling from a balcony in Fuengirola, a popular resort on Spain's Costa del Sol, the Foreign Office has confirmed.
The 13-year-old boy was reportedly on holiday with his family when he fell from a sixth-floor balcony onto an internal patio at around 1.30pm local time on Tuesday. Paramedics attended the scene but were unable to save him.
His mother was with him at the time of the incident, according to local media reports. Spanish authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall.
A Foreign Office spokesperson said: 'We are offering support to the family of a British child who has died in Fuengirola. Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time and Foreign Office staff are in contact with the Spanish police.'
