Oti Mabuse has revealed how her 'tough' second pregnancy changed her interactions with her daughter. The former Strictly professional dancer recently announced she is expecting her second child, but the pregnancy has come with challenges.
Stopping Playful Activities
Speaking on the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware, Oti explained that she had to stop letting her two-year-old daughter jump on her. She said: 'She understands - we kind of let her know. She walks past me, and she says to my belly, "Hi, baby." I say to her "You know what's inside here, so you can't jump on Mummy." Because I'm like that type of mum, I'll do like Strictly stuff, I'll throw her in the air, and I had to completely stop all of that, and so now she goes, "Baby is in mama's belly."'
Exhaustion and Nausea
Oti described her second pregnancy as 'tough', saying: 'I'm exhausted. The first three months felt like I signed up for the London Marathon. I would just be exhausted. And then I was nauseous. It was tough.' She had kept the pregnancy secret until earlier this month, when she posted on Instagram: 'Plot twist. We thought we had our hands full already, but life had even bigger plans. Baby No 2 is joining the dance party, and our hearts (and house) are about to get a whole lot fuller.'
Morning Sickness Struggles
Appearing on Loose Women, Oti revealed she was four months pregnant and struggled with morning sickness during her appearances on the show. 'Sometimes I'd just be quiet on the panel just to make sure that the nausea goes away. I drank loads of peppermint tea. That was my thing. And ginger tea. Yeah. First trimester was hard, but like anything, you get over it sometime. So yeah, I survived it.'
Romantic History and New Book
Oti is expecting her second child with husband Marius Iepure, a fellow dancer whom she married in 2014. On the podcast, she revealed their first date was at a dance practice, which she admitted was 'not romantic' but still led to a second date. Oti also has a romance book called Slow Burn coming out, about a 'sexy Latin dancer' who meets another dancer and has 'the best night of his life' before being separated for 10 years.
