The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued an urgent recall for a 5-in-1 nursery center portable cot sold on Amazon and Costway Wholesale, warning parents that the product poses a risk of serious injury or death from entrapment and suffocation. The cot functions as a bassinet, bed, sleeper, baby crib, activity centre, and changing table.
Non-Compliance with Safety Standards
The ACCC stated: "This product doesn't comply with the mandatory standard for infant sleep products. Risk of serious injury or death from entrapment or suffocation. An incident has occurred." The recall applies to units with SKU: BB0505. Parents are advised to check their product's model number or SKU immediately and stop using the cot if it matches the recalled SKU. The product can be returned to the original place of purchase for a free replacement.
Additional Recall: Baby Snow Suits
In a separate recall, baby quilted snow suits sold at Best and Less have been pulled from shelves due to a dangerous defect. The suits, available in pink florals and cream bears, were sold nationally online and in-store between April 16 and June 11. The snap fasteners can detach during use, posing a choking hazard that could lead to serious injury or death if swallowed.
The following SKUs are affected: 1922326, 1922327, 1922328, 1922329, 1922330, 1922331, 1922334, 1922335, 1922336, 1922337, 1922338, and 1922339. Shoppers are advised to immediately stop using the snowsuits and keep them out of children's reach. Affected customers can return the snowsuits to any Best and Less store for a full refund.
