Singer Jessie J has announced she is officially cancer free, revealing she 'sobbed for hours' upon learning the news. The 37-year-old, whose real name is Jessica Cornish, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and temporarily took a break from performing while undergoing treatment.
Posting the news on Instagram following a check-up and MRI scan, Jessie said: 'RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE !! I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year.' In footage accompanying the announcement, the performer confessed she felt anxious about learning the outcome, saying: 'I'm actually s****ing myself, I'm not gonna lie.'
Jessie has been candid regarding her various health challenges over the years, having been diagnosed with a heart condition at age eight, experiencing a minor stroke at 18, and temporarily losing her hearing in 2020. When revealing her cancer diagnosis in June, she told supporters she had been 'in and out' of medical examinations, adding: 'I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word early.'
In August, Jessie revealed she required a second surgical procedure and delayed a planned tour. She made her return to performing in September at BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Chelmsford. Speaking to Women's Health UK in December, she said: 'Since I was young, so many things have happened to me. I've always had obscure health issues that (doctors) can't figure out. I believe I've gone through all the things I have to help people. Even if it's just to write songs about it.'
Jessie has achieved three number one singles in the UK charts with Domino, Price Tag and Bang Bang. In 2011, she scooped four Mobo Awards and claimed the Brit Award for rising star. Her most recent album, Don't Tease Me With A Good Time, was released in November 2025.
