Former EastEnders actress Samantha Womack has provided an encouraging update on her cancer battle after completing her first round of chemotherapy. The 49-year-old, best known for playing Ronnie Mitchell on the BBC soap, took to Instagram to share a photo with her boyfriend Oliver Farnworth, enjoying a meal together.
In the post, Womack wrote: 'This was a few days ago – after getting my appetite back following Red Devil chemo. Struggling with migraines at the moment, but Xena the rescue dog by my side, keeping her Topaz eyes on me.' The update was met with an outpouring of support from fans and celebrity friends, including Emma Bunton, Kate Thornton, and Dr Zoe Williams.
Womack announced her breast cancer diagnosis in August, shortly after the death of Olivia Newton-John. She had previously undergone a lumpectomy and lymph node removal, and described herself as 'blown away' by the support she received after going public with her condition.
The actress, who also appeared in the Kingsman films, has been praised for her openness about her treatment, with many fans sharing their own experiences. Her former on-screen sister Rita Simons commented: 'Yes! Eat woman... Eat it all!'
