Davina McCall 'More Emotional Than Expected' After Completing Breast Cancer Radiotherapy
Davina McCall Emotional After Finishing Breast Cancer Treatment

Beloved television presenter Davina McCall has shared an emotional update with her fans, revealing she has completed a significant phase of her breast cancer treatment. In a heartfelt video posted to Instagram, the 58-year-old star admitted the milestone left her feeling "much more emotional than I thought it would be."

An Emotional Milestone in Her Health Journey

Filming herself in a leopard-print cardigan, McCall opened up about finishing her radiotherapy sessions. The treatment was undertaken as a preventative measure, described by her doctors as an "insurance policy" following successful surgery in November last year to remove a lump with early signs of the disease. This latest health battle comes less than a year after she had an operation to remove a benign brain tumour.

"I finished my radiotherapy today. And it was very, very emotional," she told her followers, her voice thick with feeling. Seeking positivity, she decided to watch fellow TV personality Julia Bradbury on her 'Begin Again' podcast for inspiration.

A Message Against 'National Quitters Day'

McCall's update coincided with what some term 'National Quitters Day', a concept she firmly challenged. "There's nothing happy about that," she stated, referring to the idea of celebrating people abandoning their New Year's resolutions.

Instead, she advocated for a day of encouragement: "We should have a 'happy, congratulations on still going for it when everyone else is giving up day'." She acknowledged the particular difficulty of staying motivated in January, once the festive buzz has faded into "a grey stormy day."

She directed her audience to her 'Begin Again' podcast and its 'reset month' initiative, a source of inspiration for anyone looking to start afresh or persevere with their goals. "Don't give up, you'll get there," she concluded with a supportive message.

Strength, Support, and a New Chapter

McCall's journey has been underpinned by a profound sense of gratitude and a strong support system. Just weeks after her initial surgery, she spoke at an event, expressing her contentment: "I'm the happiest I have ever been... It's taken me until my fifties to learn enough to make myself feel really, deeply content."

Her personal life has also been a source of joy. In December 2025, she married long-term partner, hairdresser Michael Douglas, in an intimate ceremony with just 11 guests. McCall wears a unique wedding ring containing a prosthetic "eyeball" made by Michael, so she feels he is with her when they are apart. Douglas has been her rock throughout her health struggles.

Fans flooded her latest post with messages of love and support, praising her strength and congratulating her on reaching this crucial milestone in her recovery.
