A car crash victim who spent 10 months in intensive care has proposed to his partner in hospital. Dominic Roberts-Brown suffered life-changing injuries when he was involved in a serious road accident on his way to work last year.
Dominic spent nearly a year in ICU at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after the crash and remains in hospital, where he continues to receive specialist care and ventilatory support.
Proposal surrounded by family
Despite the immense challenges he has faced, Dominic, from Broughty Ferry, said the accident spurred him on to pop the question to his partner Jennifer Devlin, who he met in 2024. Earlier this week, he surprised his now-fiancée with a heartfelt proposal surrounded by family and friends in the hospital's Chaplaincy Centre.
Dominic said: "I was nervous and a bit overwhelmed, but the last few months have reminded me what's really important. I'd always wanted to ask Jennifer to marry me, and with everything we've been through only made me more certain. She's been there for me every step of the way and I'm delighted she said yes."
Surprise arrangement
The surprise proposal was carefully arranged. While Jennifer enjoyed lunch with her mother, Dominic waited nervously in the Chaplaincy Centre alongside their loved ones. When Jennifer arrived, she was met with the surprise proposal and immediately said yes. The couple then celebrated the special moment with cake and a toast with those closest to them.
Jennifer, who met Dominic on a night out at a pub in Lochee, said: "I was shocked. It seemed unusual when my mum wanted us to stop by the Chaplaincy on the way to see Dominic, but I had no idea what was about to happen. Our relationship has moved quickly, but we've known from the start that we wanted to be together. I'm so happy and excited for our future together."
Wedding date set
The couple are looking forward to their future together and have already set a wedding date for 30 September 2028. The date holds special significance, as it marks the wedding anniversary of Jennifer's grandparents.

Dominic's support system, family, loved ones and staff all are witnesses to this. It is wonderful as staff to be able to support Dominic on this big milestone."
