Coleen Nolan's Heartbreaking Tribute to Sister Linda One Year After Her Death
Coleen Nolan's Tribute to Sister Linda One Year On

Coleen Nolan has shared a deeply emotional tribute to her late sister, Linda Nolan, marking one year since the singer's passing. Linda died at the age of 65 on 15 January 2025 at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, following a long and public battle with secondary breast cancer.

A Year of Grief and Remembrance

Taking to Instagram, Coleen posted a series of photographs of herself with Linda, accompanied by a simple yet powerful message. She wrote: “One year without you Linda, love and miss you everyday.” The post serves as a poignant reminder of the loss felt by the famous Nolan family.

Linda passed away peacefully with her sisters by her side. Her final hours were described as being full of "love and comfort." Her agent, Dermot McNamara, confirmed her death in a statement, noting the tireless care provided by the hospital staff.

Linda Nolan's Courageous Cancer Journey

Linda's health struggles spanned nearly two decades. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and was given the all-clear in 2011. However, the disease returned in 2017, four years after the death of her sister Bernie from the same illness in 2013.

This time, tumours were found in her hip bone and pelvis, leading to a diagnosis of incurable secondary breast cancer. Despite the prognosis, Linda was determined to live life to the fullest. In a cruel twist, her sister Anne was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2020, just days after Linda learned her cancer had spread to her liver. The two sisters underwent chemotherapy together.

By 2023, Linda discovered the cancer had moved to her brain. Throughout her ordeal, she became a dedicated campaigner, notably leading the charge for the wonderdrug Enhertu to be made available on the NHS for all secondary breast cancer patients.

A Legacy of Stardom and Charity

Linda Nolan's life was one of remarkable achievement. As a founding member of the iconic girl group The Nolans, she enjoyed global success. The group sold over 30 million records worldwide, with hits like the disco anthem "I'm In The Mood for Dancing."

Beyond music, she was a West End star, a bestselling author, a television personality, and a Daily Mirror columnist. Her agent's statement highlighted her "beacon of hope and resilience," noting she helped raise over £20 million for numerous charities, including Breast Cancer Now and the Samaritans.

In February 2025, fans lined the streets of Blackpool to pay their final respects at her funeral, a testament to her enduring popularity and the impact of her brave public journey.

The Loose Women panel, where Coleen is a regular, paid an emotional on-air tribute following the news of Linda's death. The Nolan sisters, including Anne, Denise, Maureen, and Coleen, maintained a vigil at Linda's bedside in her final days, a powerful display of family unity in the face of profound loss.
