Beverley Callard 'Completely Wiped Out' After Cancer Treatment Results

Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has said she feels 'completely wiped out' after receiving results from her cancer treatment. The 69-year-old actress, who revealed her early-stage breast cancer diagnosis in February, shared an emotional update on Instagram on Saturday night.

Callard explained that despite having the cancer removed during surgery, it had spread to a lymph node, and she is awaiting further test results. She admitted to overdoing it while redecorating her new home in Ireland, where she has moved with her husband Jon to star in the soap Fair City.

'I have completely overdone it,' she said in a video. 'I got the results on Thursday and I'm waiting for more, but I'd been decorating like crazy doing eight to 10 hour days. Friday I was really, really tired. Today, I'm completely wiped out. I've felt shocking all day.'

Callard, best known for playing Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald on Coronation Street for 30 years, said she had been told the surgery 'went really well' and they managed to 'cut the cancer out'. However, further tests are needed to determine how aggressive the cancer is, which will decide whether she needs chemotherapy before radiotherapy.

Fans sent messages of support, with one writing: 'Don't overdo it, keep taking regular rests and look after yourself lovely lady.' Another said: 'Be kind to yourself Beverley, your body has been through a lot.' Callard can currently be seen on I'm A Celebrity...South Africa, which was filmed before her diagnosis.
