Lidl Recalls Spinach and Mixed Leaf Products Over Listeria Fears – What You Need to Know
Lidl recalls spinach over listeria fears

Supermarket giant Lidl has issued an urgent recall for several of its spinach and mixed leaf products over fears they may be contaminated with listeria. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned customers to check their fridges immediately.

Which Products Are Affected?

The recall includes:

  • Lidl Oaklands Fresh Spinach (200g) – Best before dates up to and including 24 June 2024
  • Lidl Oaklands Mixed Leaf (120g) – Best before dates up to and including 24 June 2024

Why Is Listeria Dangerous?

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause serious illness, particularly in vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhoea.

What Should Customers Do?

If you’ve purchased any of the affected products, the FSA advises:

  1. Do not consume the product.
  2. Return it to your nearest Lidl store for a full refund.
  3. Contact a healthcare professional if you’ve eaten it and feel unwell.

Lidl has apologised for any inconvenience and assured customers that food safety is their top priority.
