Woman, 34, says diet change after test ended 20 years of bloating
Diet change after test ended 20 years of bloating

Sacha Morey, 34, from Brighton, says her painful bloating stopped after she cut certain foods from her diet following an at-home intolerance test. The HR and operations manager had suffered from digestive issues since she was 11, with symptoms that doctors were unable to diagnose.

Years of symptoms and repeated tests

Morey experienced persistent bloating, extreme sweating, agonising acne and inexplicable fatigue. She attended her GP and hospitals repeatedly, undergoing blood tests and other investigations to identify the underlying cause. She said her stomach would "blow up like a big football" and she would get "excruciating pain under my ribs".

Despite being sporty and athletic, she became self-conscious about her stomach and avoided fitted clothing. Her mother noticed the pattern during her teenage years, questioning what she had eaten. Morey said she would be dismissed after food diaries and tests, and the cycle continued for years.

Test reveals intolerances

As she entered her 30s, she underwent testing for thyroid and hormonal issues, including checks for polycystic ovaries, endometriosis and coeliac disease. The answer came from an at-home intolerance test from Supply Life, which measures IgG antibody responses to a panel of commonly consumed foods.

Morey said: "I decided to look into it myself. I found Supply Life and I felt like this was where I was going to get some answers. I actually had some hope. It came back saying I'm intolerant to cow's milk, goat's milk, sheep's milk, egg whites and, randomly, peas and broad beans."

Life-changing results

She cut those foods from her diet for a week and experienced withdrawal symptoms, including tiredness and headaches. A year after taking the test, she no longer has painful bloating or other symptoms. She said her skin is better, she no longer has acne, and she has not had night sweats.

Morey added: "When I say night sweats, my sheets used to be wringing wet. But I just don't have any of those symptoms anymore. I, of course, now know that if I was to eat something with one of those intolerances in it, I know straight away because my body reacts. But I've got energy, I'm not tired or lethargic. It's great." She said she has told many people about the test because she does not want others to struggle with painful symptoms for so long.
