A young woman from Bristol has revealed how a revolutionary weight loss jab helped her shed an impressive four stone, but at the cost of her Christmas enjoyment. Frankie Stone, 23, says the appetite-suppressing effects of Mounjaro meant she could barely touch her festive feast, managing only a can of Coke while her family indulged.
The Festive Sacrifice
Frankie, an office assistant, began her Mounjaro journey in December 2024, hoping to tackle her weight which had reached 21 stone and a size 22. She has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which made natural weight loss extremely difficult. While delighted to see the pounds dropping off, she was unprepared for the jab's impact on her Christmas celebrations.
"It 100% affected my experience," Frankie admitted. "Everything around Christmas is food-related. My mum would bring all this stuff out and I just wouldn't fancy anything." On Christmas Day itself, during a family meal out, she found herself unable to finish her plate while everyone else enjoyed their food. "All I could manage was a can of Coke," she recalled. "It definitely ruined Christmas."
Navigating Side Effects and Breaks
Determined to continue her weight loss, Frankie persevered with the weekly injections. However, she decided to take a one-week break during a holiday to Turkey in September 2025 so she could properly enjoy the local cuisine. This decision led to severe unexpected side effects.
"I was up all night, I couldn't sleep, I was really anxious, my heart was racing," Frankie explained of the break. "It was really weird, there were so many strange side effects for not taking it." The experience was so unpleasant that she resumed the injections a month later and has continued them, deciding the side effects of stopping were worse than a reduced appetite over the festive period.
She notes that after previously halting the jabs, it took a full month for her appetite to return. This means anyone hoping to have a normal Christmas appetite would have needed to stop the injections by the end of November.
A Successful Yet Complex Journey
Despite the challenges, Frankie's journey has been largely positive on the scales. She has now lost four stone, weighing 16 stone and fitting into a size 16. "Mounjaro just blocks all those food noises out," she said. "It doesn't make you struggle anymore, and I've lost four stone so far."
However, she has experienced other side effects common with the medication. "It gives me headaches and dizziness and it's triggered anxiety in me, which I've never had before," Frankie shared. "I had a panic attack once, which I had to go to hospital about." She now runs her own cleaning business, Sparkle by F&P, and shares her experiences on TikTok under the username @francescastone2.
As another December approaches, Frankie is continuing her injections, accepting that her festive enjoyment might again be tempered. She's focusing on the silver lining: her significant weight loss and improved self-esteem after feeling "fed up" and at a "low" point before starting the treatment.
