Karl Stefanovic, host of Australia's Today show, caused an awkward moment on Wednesday when he asked US Ambassador Caroline Kennedy if her son Jack Schlossberg was single, revealing his 18-year-old daughter Willow's crush. The 48-year-old presenter made the inquiry during a live interview with Kennedy, 65, on the breakfast programme.
Stefanovic said his daughter wanted him to ask if the 30-year-old grandson of John F. Kennedy was available to date. Kennedy, who is the daughter of the late President, deflected the question by replying, 'You would have to ask him. I can't answer that.'
When Stefanovic attempted to move on, Kennedy turned the tables, saying, 'Your daughter must be so mad at you right now. I would be so mad if I was your daughter.' Flustered, Stefanovic tried to joke that he was asking for his three-year-old daughter Harper, prompting Kennedy to retort, 'Then there is something really wrong with you.'
Willow, whose real name is Ava but prefers her middle name, recently turned 18. Stefanovic celebrated the milestone with a social media post, writing, 'Happy birthday to our 18 year old goddess. I'm so proud of you. I will love you forever. And beyond.'
