British Man's Body Returned from Cyprus Without Heart

A British man who died after being pulled unconscious from the sea in Cyprus has had his body returned to the UK without his heart, according to reports. The 67-year-old, from Kent, was on holiday with his partner when he got into difficulty while swimming off the coast of Yeroskipou, near Paphos, on 7 November 2023.

Emergency services were called and the man was brought ashore, where CPR was administered. He was taken to Paphos General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. A post-mortem examination was conducted in Cyprus, and the body was repatriated to the UK.

Upon arrival, however, the family discovered that the man's heart had been removed during the autopsy and not returned. The Foreign Office confirmed it was aware of the case and was providing consular assistance. The family has expressed distress over the incident and is seeking answers.
