A prominent hearing specialist has pleaded guilty to a series of voyeurism and indecency offences after using hidden cameras to film patients, colleagues, and visitors. Dr Lam Hoe Yeoh, 62, also known as Robin, admitted seven counts of voyeurism, six counts of making indecent photographs of a child, and one count of possessing extreme pornography at Croydon Crown Court.
The offences came to light in April after a covert recording device he had secreted in a toilet at St Anthony's Hospital in North Cheam, south London, fell and was discovered by a member of staff. The device had captured one of the women using the lavatory, but also inadvertently filmed Yeoh securing it. Police subsequently found footage involving more than 1,000 victims over a three-year period.
Prosecutor Peter Clement Clement described the offending as 'sophisticated, organised, planned and long-running', adding that it was 'vast and beyond any previously investigated by the Met'. Victims included men, women, and children, with some as young as five. Yeoh also filmed people in his own home and on trains, and his footage was stored on hard drives and USB devices, labelled with graphic descriptions.
Yeoh, a father of three, kept his head bowed during the hearing and spoke only to confirm his name and enter his pleas. He was arrested at the privately-run St Anthony's Hospital, where he worked as a hearing specialist. The court heard he had 'grossly abused' the trust placed in him. Sentencing is expected at a later date.
