Olivia Bowen Shares Post-Baby Fitness Journey Following Traumatic Childbirth
Reality television personality Olivia Bowen has proudly displayed her remarkable post-pregnancy weight loss transformation, coming just months after she revealed she could never endure childbirth again following the harrowing delivery of her daughter Siena. The 32-year-old Love Island star, who shares six-month-old Siena and three-year-old son Abel with husband Alex Bowen, 34, documented her fitness progress on social media this week.
Three Months of Dedicated Training
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Olivia disclosed she has been working intensively with personal trainer Maria Gilbert for twelve weeks to shed over a stone in weight since welcoming her daughter last year. Maria shared striking before and after photographs of Olivia on her Instagram Story, accompanied by the caption celebrating three months of dedicated effort.
Olivia reshared these images with an emotional message praising her trainer's support and motivation. "Never thought I would be happy to share this but @mashaspeachesfit_ has got to be applauded for the support & motivation she has given me," she wrote. "12 weeks of work, most breastfeeding, split nights feeding, went on holiday & we're still here over a stone down & a hundred times stronger in the gym."
The television personality expressed profound gratitude, stating the trainer had restored her confidence and that she could never have achieved these results without professional guidance. This public revelation comes amid ongoing discussions about her traumatic childbirth experience that has fundamentally altered her family planning decisions.
Traumatic Birth Leads to Permanent Decision
Last month, Olivia revealed her husband Alex underwent a vasectomy after the couple made the definitive choice to have no more children following Siena's traumatic birth. Olivia confessed she could "never go through childbirth again" after nearly dying from massive blood loss during delivery last year.
Speaking tearfully on her ITV2 reality program Olivia & Alex: Parenthood in October, she recounted suffering a major haemorrhage during her emergency Caesarean section. "We are absolutely done. Alex had a vasectomy the other day, so no more kids for us," she declared. "There were a lot of reasons – personal ones, environmental ones, external ones, but ultimately we just feel complete now."
In subsequent interviews with The Sun, Olivia elaborated on their decision, referencing both the traumatic birth experience and the earlier loss of Siena's twin during pregnancy. A vasectomy, medically known as male sterilisation, involves cutting the tubes that transport sperm to achieve permanent contraception without requiring additional birth control methods.
Near-Death Experience During Delivery
The reality star has been remarkably transparent about her health anxiety following what she describes as nearly dying during her daughter's birth in August. Viewers of her television program witnessed Olivia initially attempting a home birth using a birthing pool before experiencing such severe pain that an ambulance was called to transport her urgently to hospital.
"We had a plan but it didn't come off. I felt something that didn't feel right," Olivia explained. "I was only 5cm dilated after 10 hours but I was determined to push through, I then felt a lump in my vagina and we made the decision to go to hospital."
Medical examination revealed her bladder had prolapsed into her cervix, obstructing the baby's exit and necessitating an emergency Caesarean section. "I was really scared, it's a surgery and it's a big thing and it's not the easy way out," she admitted.
The situation deteriorated rapidly after Siena's delivery. "She came out crying which was incredible and beautiful and I had her on my face and I started to feel dizzy," Olivia recalled. "The nurse started calling out how much blood I was losing and all I could hear was 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 and it was going up and up quickly and the fear sunk in really quickly, it was really scary."
Major Haemorrhage and Recovery
Breaking down emotionally while recounting the experience, Olivia described hearing medical staff declare a major haemorrhage across the surgical room. "There was doctors in and out and no one was telling me what was going on. I felt so sick and dizzy and Alex said the blood just drained from me," she said. "I remember thinking don't close your eyes because I thought I'd pass out or even worse. It was very close."
Olivia ultimately lost 2.8 litres of blood from her total blood volume of approximately 4.5 litres. "To feel that you are that close to losing your life, was very very scary," she confessed.
The television personality expressed profound gratitude toward the National Health Service for saving her life, acknowledging she feels extraordinarily fortunate to be alive. "The doctors were absolutely incredible. The NHS were amazing, they saved my life," she stated.
While Olivia believes she has now processed the terrifying ordeal, her husband Alex admitted to being deeply traumatised by the experience. Olivia acknowledged this disparity, telling him "I feel like I've processed it, we got through 20 hours of labour at home, I think you were more traumatised." Alex agreed completely, describing it as the worst thing he has ever witnessed and expressing his absolute unwillingness to ever endure such an experience again.
Olivia Bowen's journey from near-fatal childbirth to post-baby fitness transformation represents a powerful narrative of physical and emotional recovery, highlighting both the risks of childbirth and the resilience possible in its aftermath.
