Television personality and columnist Narinder Kaur has been admitted to a specialist hospital in the UK after falling seriously ill following a family holiday to India.

Holiday Joy Turns to Health Crisis

The former Big Brother star, known for her appearances on shows like Jeremy Vine and Good Morning Britain, had been sharing cheerful updates from her two-week trip. Her journey included visits to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, her family's village in Punjab, the Taj Mahal in Delhi, and the Maldives.

However, shortly after returning home to the UK, Kaur began to experience severe symptoms. She reported feeling "seriously unwell" with extreme chills, a intense flu-like illness, and chronic fatigue.

Rushed to Specialist Care

Due to the severity and nature of her symptoms, she was taken to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London for urgent assessment. Medical professionals are conducting a battery of tests to determine the exact cause of her illness.

There are concerns she may have contracted a serious tropical disease such as malaria or dengue fever, both of which can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. She is being kept under close supervision while awaiting results.

A source close to the situation said: "It all happened very quickly. Everyone saw what a great time she was having in India, then she started feeling seriously unwell as she returned to the UK and was advised to go straight to hospital. It’s been frightening, but she’s in expert hands."

Risks for Returning Travellers

This incident highlights the health risks associated with travel to tropical regions. Illnesses can emerge days or even weeks after exposure through various means, including:

  • Mosquito bites
  • Consumption of untreated water
  • Contact in temples or religious sites

The Hospital for Tropical Diseases is the UK's leading centre for such cases, specialising in treating travellers who return from overseas with serious or unusual infections.

Narinder Kaur first found fame on Big Brother in 2001 and has since built a career as a media panellist and writer, having published a book about her reality TV experience.
