Melanie Sykes has revealed she is left "two-thirds bald" and in "so much pain" due to an autoimmune condition. The 55-year-old TV presenter shared a candid update on Instagram, explaining she has been unwell for much of the year.
In a video, she said she has been "ill all year" and is losing her hair, while also experiencing "crazy inflammation". She wore a maroon hat and explained that she has been concentrating on healing.
Sykes, known for presenting shows such as Today with Des and Mel and Alan and Mel, said she had been unable to complete the final two days of a meditation teacher training course because she was too ill. Despite this, she described the experience as a "wonderful time" and has been documenting her journey on YouTube.
The former I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! contestant, who finished third in 2024, said her lips and eyes are "so bad" and later removed her hat to reveal she is "two-thirds bald". She added that she laughs when she mentions her baldness, saying: "Thank God I can laugh, always laugh."
She ended the video by encouraging her followers to take up meditation, calling it "the key to joy", and expressed her love and care for them.
