The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed the full list of 35 heart and vascular conditions that qualify claimants for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), potentially worth up to £748 per month.
Eligibility and payment details
Individuals with these conditions could receive up to £187 weekly, thanks to the annual benefit uplift of 3.8% applied in April. PIP is split into two components: daily living and mobility. The daily living standard rate is £76.55 per week, with an enhanced rate of £114.80. The mobility component offers £30.20 at the standard rate and £80.10 at the enhanced rate.
Claimants who qualify for the enhanced daily living rate and a portion of mobility support can see their weekly total reach £187, equating to £748 per month. The DWP currently identifies 35 conditions, but stresses the list is not exhaustive. Rather than focusing solely on diagnosis, the department assesses how the condition impacts daily life and independence.
