Brit issues 'toxic' cat bite warning after requiring six surgeries in nine days

A life coach and entrepreneur has issued a stark warning to cat owners after a feline bite resulted in six operations in less than ten days. Dan Perry, from the UK, took to TikTok to share his ordeal as he bids to make a full recovery.

He explained that a cat got into his house overnight and his wife tried to chase it out, but it ran upstairs after hitting a glass door. When he picked the cat up to carry it outside, it bit him. Unlike his own pet's 'nips', the intruding cat's teeth sank in deeply, puncturing through layers of flesh and pushing bacteria in.

'Cat bites don't look like much other than little puncture wounds,' Dan warned. Despite getting antibiotics within hours and visiting an emergency room immediately, the infection kept spreading, necessitating multiple operations.

Others have shared similar horror stories. One TikTok user said they spent two days in hospital with blood poisoning, while another was told they could have lost their arm. A third recalled undergoing three operations and still being unable to bend a finger after a bite from a feral cat.

Experts at VCA Animal Hospitals advise washing any cat bite wound under running water for at least five minutes and seeking medical attention as soon as possible. Untreated infections can develop within 24 to 48 hours.
