Gogglebox star Amy Tapper has been spotted stepping out in public this week, showcasing her glamorous new look following an impressive eight-stone weight loss achieved through the medication Mounjaro. The 26-year-old television personality, who has dropped from a size 26 to a size 18 by combining the weekly injection with a consistent exercise regimen, proudly displayed her slimmer frame during her outing.
Amy Tapper's Stylish Appearance After Weight Loss
Amy was seen with a full face of makeup and her hair styled in elegant waves, wearing a gem-covered khaki cardigan paired with leggings and trainers. She accessorised with a cross-body Gucci bag, while carrying her mobile phone, a bottle of water, and her car keys. This appearance comes after she recently shared a selfie highlighting her transformation, which included a straight hairstyle instead of her usual curls and a new nose stud.
Medical Intervention and Surgical Considerations
In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Amy revealed that doctors prescribed her the weight loss jab just as she was contemplating gastric bypass surgery. Despite her remarkable success, the significant weight reduction has resulted in loose skin, which she acknowledges will require surgical correction in the future.
Amy explained: 'Unfortunately and inevitably, when you've lost as much weight as eight stone, and there's gonna be more, there's a lot of skin that is just not gonna disappear with exercise. It's not possible, you know? It's stones and stones of fat and it's now just skin. My arms and my tummy are definitely gonna need surgery at some point, but my legs are actually OK.'
Addressing Trolls and Maintaining Fitness
While some online trolls have accused Amy of 'cheating' by using the medication, she emphasises that she has maintained a dedicated workout routine with the same personal trainer for five years. The exercise has also helped tone some of the loose skin on her body.
Amy stated: 'I love going to the gym anyway, just mentally, it makes the biggest difference to my week, and hand-in-hand with Mounjaro.'
Weight Loss Progress and Campaign Involvement
Amy has been taking a weekly 15mg dose of Mounjaro since February, gradually increasing from an initial 2.5mg. At the peak of her weight loss, she shed 5lbs in just one week and lost four stone within six months. She has partnered with online pharmacy Chemist4U to reclaim the phrase 'eat less, move more' as part of an anti-bullying campaign, which includes a new house track by DJ Fat Tony titled 'Already Doing It'.
Mental Health Impact and Public Response
The scrutiny from online trolls has taken a toll on Amy's mental health. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain last month, she emotionally discussed the challenges, noting that while she considers herself strong-minded, the negative comments still affect her.
She added: 'The online trolls come in and it sort of affects your peacefulness in your head. This eat less move more, it's put there as some sort of an insult. But if you're doing that with the weight loss medication side by side, it's the most perfect pair so I don't know why it's bothering anyone.'
Amy urged others not to place too much power in the opinions of others, concluding: 'I think you're doomed if you do and doomed if you don't so why not just do it?' Her journey has inspired many fans, though she continues to face trolling despite her efforts to promote body positivity and health awareness.
