Adam Thomas, known for his roles in Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, has shared a significant health update with fans, revealing that his life has 'completely changed' after starting a new treatment for psoriatic arthritis.
The actor, who was initially diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2023 before the diagnosis was revised to psoriatic arthritis, has been documenting his journey with the chronic condition, which causes joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. He experienced symptoms in his knees, wrists, fingers, ankles, and toes.
In a recent Instagram post, Thomas announced that after three years of battling the condition, he is now pain-free. He credited his first biologic injection, which he said worked 'literally overnight'. Biologic medicines are derived from proteins and work by interacting with the immune system to reduce inflammation.
Thomas acknowledged that the treatment is not a cure but expressed hope for the future, saying: 'Now it's time to rebuild, mentally, physically, emotionally. This next chapter is all about prioritising my wellbeing, becoming the happiest, healthiest version of me... and finally enjoying life again.'
