A fire in a maternity ward at a Pakistan hospital has killed 14 newborn babies, with one infant rescued from the ward.

The blaze broke out on the third floor of the mother and child unit at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, one of the city's main state-run hospitals. Rescue teams attended the scene, and the fire is now said to be under control. Those injured were taken to the intensive care unit.
A hospital spokesperson told BBC News that one newborn out of the 15 babies who were in the ward was rescued. A man also told the publication that his three-day-old baby had died.
Parents gather and inquiry ordered
Parents of the infants killed in the fire have gathered outside the hospital in tears.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he expresses deep sorrow and has ordered an immediate inquiry. A committee has been tasked with producing a report within 24 hours.
