Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallet, stars of The Only Way Is Essex, have decided to put their wedding on hold following the heartbreak of a miscarriage. The couple, who are already parents to one-year-old Brody, revealed last month that their unborn baby had not survived their 12-week scan.
In a statement, Georgia explained: "Our 12 week scan to be told our baby had not survived & I needed an op… 12 weeks of feeling every emotion, hoping & praying but in the end, nothing else we could of done." The couple said they are taking time to mourn and have postponed their wedding plans.
The decision will be documented in their ITVBe series, Georgia and Tommy: Baby Steps, which returns for a fourth series. The show will feature the couple opening up about their loss and giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at their family life.
Georgia returned to social media earlier this month to thank fans for their support. She wrote: "Your messages they have really helped me get through the last few weeks.. I’m also so sorry so many of you have gone through this unbearable pain." She added that filming the show helped her talk about the loss, saying: "I think it’s important to show the good & the bad."
The couple have urged others who have experienced similar loss to seek support, with Georgia stating: "You are not alone & certainly not just a statistic." The Miscarriage Association offers support for those affected.
