Tasha Ghouri, the former Love Island and Strictly Come Dancing star, broke down in tears as she discussed the intense online trolling she faced last year, describing it as the 'hardest year of her life'. In an International Women's Day special interview with Fleur East on Hits Radio, Ghouri admitted she 'lost herself completely' and stopped loving her work due to the abuse.
The 26-year-old, who is deaf, revealed that she continues to receive ableist comments online. 'Last year was the hardest. I lost myself completely. I was in the depths, and it got to the point where I stopped loving what I was doing,' she said, becoming emotional during the recorded conversation, which was produced in partnership with The King’s Trust.
Ghouri also reflected on a difficult personal period, stating that her public split from Andrew Le Page, whom she met on Love Island in 2022, added to the pressure. The couple confirmed their separation in January 2024, shortly after Ghouri reached the Strictly final.
'I had to really try and find my happiness again, which I have now,' she said. Ghouri is now in a relationship with Cam Whitnall, a CBBC presenter and managing director of The Big Cat Sanctuary. She credited Whitnall with helping her rediscover her inner radiance after battling online trolls.
