A mother of three who spent her final days warning others about the dangers of sunbeds has died of skin cancer at the age of 35. Kellie Wheeler, from Coventry, passed away on Tuesday with her family by her side after a battle with stage four advanced melanoma.
In her last days, she wrote on Facebook: 'I'm not brave or strong or dealing with any of it. I'm absolutely petrified, heartbroken, frightened... It's a living hell of a nightmare... Please research melanoma, please don't use sunbeds and please protect yourselves and your children from the sun, it's a matter of life and death.'
Kellie was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2010 after discovering a mole on her left leg. Doctors removed it, and she went into remission. However, in September last year, she developed chest pain, and scans revealed the cancer had returned and spread to her lungs, pancreas, kidney, breast, and adrenal gland.
Her friend Sarah Masters said: 'Kellie has never been a sun lover. She wants people to know the dangers of skin cancer. She wants sun beds banned in this country.' Before her death, friends raised nearly £10,000 through a GoFundMe page to support her family.
